Getting There

B · Short walk from the car park

Safety

Black-pebble beach in Snæfellsjökull National Park, on a spur off Route 574. Sneaker waves on this shore are genuinely dangerous — never turn your back on the sea, and do not walk out onto the beach in the dark.

Parking

National park car park above the beach, with a 10–15 minute walk down through lava to the shore. At night the car park is the safer vantage point — the path is uneven and unlit.
