Safety

Free geothermal pool at the head of Reykjarfjörður on Route 63, built by volunteers in 1975. A concrete swimming pool sits by the road with a smaller, hotter natural pool just above it. Unsupervised and open around the clock — no attendant, and the surfaces ice over in winter.

Parking

Gravel parking beside Route 63 next to the pool, with a basic changing hut and a donation box. The fjord road is narrow and often icy — check road.is before driving out in winter.
