C · Easy detour on rough or unpaved road

Safety

Reached by 14 km of rough gravel mountain road 214 from Route 1 east of Vík — high clearance recommended, small unbridged fords after rain. Campsite season only, roughly mid-May to mid-September.

Parking

Park at the campsite on the valley floor; fee in season. Steep canyon walls block low sky, so walk out onto the open grass flat for a full horizon.
